Galium aparine

Iridoidglucosides, including monotropein, asperuloside, and aucubin; phenolic acids; flavonoids. Acts as a diaphoretic, antispasmodic, diuretic, vulnerary, tonic, and astringent.  

Traditional Uses:

Effective in reducing swelling in glands. Works against inflammation in tonsils, benign tumors, and cysts. Crystals in the urinary tract and kidney stones. Will detoxify your kidneys, liver, pancreas, and spleen and will also help with disorders in the lymphatic system. Anemia (leading to tiredness), dropsy (water retention) and stitch in the side will benefit. Also used for the treatment of epilepsy, hysteria, nervousness and suppressed urine. Treat goiter by gargling with this tea throughout the day. Effective for cancer-like skin disorders and cancer of the tongue. Excellent tonic for the lymphatic system.  

Directions to use:

Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiled water over 2 - 3 teaspoons of herb. Infuse for 10min and drink three times per day.

Animals: Used as a tonic and for the treatment of Eczema, skin problems, toxins, tumors, and growths.  

Safety precautions:

Cleavers are high in tannins which may cause nausea, stomach aches and vomiting. Take for only two weeks at a time then skip 1 -2 weeks. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
